Renforsin maraton, Kajaani

Renfors Marathon is a charity running event held in Kajaani on 19 September 2026. Proceeds support local youth sports. The event offers a beautiful route past Kajaani’s scenic river landscapes and landmarks, including the area near the ruins of Kajaani Castle. The start and finish area is Raatihuoneentori, and the route follows the banks of the Kajaaninjoki River. In addition to the marathon, the event includes a half marathon, a quarter marathon and children’s races for different age groups.

Children’s races are free, and participants receive awards. Mini-Renfors races are available for children under 8 (150 m) and over 8 (300 m), with no timekeeping. There are three aid stations along the route (3.5 km, 7.0 km and 10.5 km), offering sports drink and water. Race materials can be collected from the race office on Friday from 17:00 to 19:00 or from 9:00 on race day. Awards for the top three in each category will be presented at 15:00 in Raatihuoneentori. The Oktoberfest tent opens at 16:00. The event is a charity event supporting youth sports, and gives participants the opportunity to enjoy beautiful surroundings and a community atmosphere.
