Race description
Nummela Backyard Ultra is an ultramarathon running event in which competitors run 6.706-kilometre loops within an hour for as long as multiple runners are able to continue. The race is unique because it has no predetermined finish time or distance, and the winner is the person who runs one more loop than the others. The event is held at Polku Hotel in Vihti and offers a challenge for runners who value perseverance and endurance. The race originated in the United States and is also known as “Just one more Loop.”
Highlights
- A 6.706-kilometre route to be completed in under an hour
- The race continues for as long as multiple runners can complete a loop within an hour
- There are often separate daytime and nighttime routes; the nighttime route is less technical
Additional information
The race uses a start bell that rings every hour. Runners must be in the designated area when the bell rings. Timing may be done on paper or electronically, and timing services are provided by Juha Seppälä (info@nubu.fi). The race ends when only one runner completes a loop within the one-hour time limit. The event is held at Polku Hotel in Vihti and offers the opportunity to take part in an ultramarathon and follow the runners’ progress via GPS.
